PRESIDENT BUHARI SCHEDULES A VISIT TO CAMEROON TO MEET MR BIYA, AFTER NOTICEABLY ABSENT FROM HIS INAUGURATION.

NIGERIA’S President Muhammadu Buhari is planning to visit Yaounde to cement a regional fighting force against Boko Haram, he told AFP on Monday. Mr Buhari met his counterparts from Niger, Chad and Benin at a summit in Abuja last week but Cameroon’s leader Paul Biya was noticeably absent and represented by his defence minister.  Cameroon and Nigeria have long had strained ties, in part over the Bakassi dispute but also after Boko Haram mounted cross-border raids into northeast Nigeria from Cameroon’s far north. [post_ad] Mr Buhari visited Niger and Chad in his first week in office and said he would have gone to Cameroon’s capital Yaounde for talks with Biya had he not been invited to attend the G7 summit in Germany. "But on my return to Nigeria now, I will try to go to Cameroon," he said on the sidelines of the African Union summit in Johannesburg. Last week’s Abuja summit rubber-stamped an 8,700-strong regional force involving the five countries to replace an ad ho

ANGLOPHONES LAWYERS ARE BATTLING THE UNRAVELING ISSUE OF FEDERATION. MEAN WHILE THE UN WATCHES VERY KINDLY.

Ostrich Politics: Veteran Anglophone journalist Ntemfac Ofege recently stated that Anglophones lawyers who have this day given the Biya regime an ultimatum to re-negotiate the terms of the non-existent federation between East (francophone) Cameroun and West (anglophone) Cameroon should know this:  Mr Biya uses time and subterfuge as political   weapons . The man will do nothing while hoping that the problem will go away or he will pretend to do nothing as he attempts to divide and corrupt and rule the opposition.  The AGBAW-EBAI DEBATE  is asking our readers to suggest " the way forward for our Anglophone lawyers "

France is Exposed. The Secretes of how France EXPLOITS its Former Colonies Especially Cameroon.

We try to keep a positive vibe going here at This Is Africa, but every so often you come across something that just paints your mood black. Some of you may already be aware of this, but if like us you're hearing about this for the first time your jaw will drop. And it'll probably raise the same BIG questions in your mind that it did in ours. Francois Hollande with the Senegalese President Macky Sall Incidentally, once you read this you’ll no longer wonder why French presidents and ministers are sometimes greeted by protests when they visit former French colonies in Africa, even if the protests are about other issues. Though what other issues could be more important than this one we have no idea. [post_ad] 14 African countries only ever have access to 15% of their own money! Fire in Mvog mbi market in the capital of Cameroon burns down 30 shops.

The fire started after electricity returned to the area. More than 30 shops were engulfed by the flames.  Camervibes   informant gathered from onlookers that the fire created a large fireball which then spread to the surrounding shops. Some of the shops that were not touched by the fire were instead looted by some criminals around the area. [post_ad] Many shop owners were shocked and angry as they complained to authorities about the looting. All efforts by residents to reduce the fire proved futile. The firefighters arrived the scene some minutes after the fire started and managed to contain the damage caused. According to a trader, the cause of the fire has been blamed on a short circuit that occurred when power returned to the shop buildings. However, an investigation has been opened to determine the true cause of the fire by the authorities. [post_ad] www.kisife.blogspot.com

[CAMEROON] Why all Anglophones are members of the Southern Cameroons National Council

Before and after the All Anglophone Lawyers’ Conference of 9th May 2015, claims and insinuations were linked to the real or imaginary interference of the Southern Cameroon National Council (SCNC) with the deliberations and outcome of the conference. As would be expected the conveners of the conference have gone at length to dissociate themselves from SCNC control as if the SCNC was a pariah organisation. SCNC is a product of the All Anglophone Conference (AAC) of 1993 and 1994 that brought together different shades of Anglophone opinion to be crystallized into a common vision. It was only after the Cameroon government failed to take on board proposals by the AAC that a new pressure group emerged like it is often the case in liberation theology to give visibility, potency and geo-political relevance and space to the Anglophone struggle. It is here that the SCNC was born. It was no more a liberation of a people as it was for a territory that freely opted for a Union in 1961

[NOWEFU Politics] Barrister Nico Halle rejects reinstatement

He reacted on on June 2, 2015 to last weekend’s decision by Fons of the North West Region annulling his suspension as NOWEFU Spokesman. Six years on, the North West Fons’ Union (NOWEFU), has declared null and void the August 27, 2008 decision by its former President General, His Majesty Chafah XI. The decision suspended Barrister Ntumfor Nico Halle ‘‘indefinitely as the North West Fons’ Messenger, Spokesman and Ambassador for attempts to destabilize and destroy the Fons’ Union through persistent, reckless and unfounded press declarations.” Meeting at an emergency Executive Committee and General Assembly session at the Fon of Bambui’s palace on May 29, 2015, NOWEFU challenged the decision which they claimed was “irregular.” It was against this backdrop that the Fons decided to rehabilitate their Messenger, Spokesman and Ambassador, Ntumfor Nico Halle. The President General of NOWEFU, His Majesty Senator Teche Njei II, presided the session which also revised and adopted a new

[BREAKING] French National Assembly releases 149 page document on Cameroon: What are the sinister motives behind the French move?

The recent report by French parliamentarians that conspicuously cited Cameroon and Niger certainly reveals how weak Cameroon has become under the CPDM regime. There are many Cameroonians who must have been wondering why some Parliamentarians from France took so much interest in the security and stability of Cameroon to the extent of producing a 149-page internal report that filtered to the press with much gleeful usage in the local media. Several analyses and commentaries went wild on the issues raised by the report. However, it is hard to say if any conclusions were ever arrived at on why Cameroon and Niger featured prominently in the report given that they are not the only countries affected by activities of the nefarious Boko Haram extremist group. However, the fact that the report focused on French speaking African countries obviously means that its genesis could only be traced to the colonial and post-colonial history and the economic stakes that such links have generated

Cameroon: SCNC picks issues with Fru Ndi over Federalism

By Sylvanus Ezieh, May 21, 2015 Cameroon Journal, Yaounde  – The Southern Cameroons National Council, SCNC has picked issues SDF Chairman John Fru Ndi with SDF chieftain, John Fru Ndi over his comments at a press conference in Yaounde last week that Cameroonians shall decide on the number of states in the event of a return to federation. [post_ad] The president of one of the SCNC factions, Thomas Nwachan told reporters during a recent briefing in Bamenda that Fru Ndi seems to be confused over the issue of the number of states. “Fru Ndi is making the same errors he has always made. He started in 1992 with 4 states federation and then moved to 6 states, to 8 and 10 states. I’m convinced that it is because he has failed in all his demands that he is throwing the challenge to the population to decide, just like what he said during a press conference in Yaounde last week.” [post_ad] Nwachan said that the Anglophone problem is not a problem of guess work like what Fru Ndi is

CamerVibes: EXCLUSIVE: France worried about possible secession of Northern Cameroon

French President Francois Hollande By Mbom Sixtus, May 20, 2015 Cameroon Journal, Yaounde  – The French government has expressed worries that inhabitants of the northern regions of Cameroon might seek secession after power leaves President Biya. According to information we gathered, their fears are based on the marginalization the northerners have been through during Biya’s long-drawn-out stay in power. The document, a copy of which the Cameroon Journal obtained, was presented on April 15 by French MPs, Jean Claude Guibal and Philippe Baumal in their 2014-2015 ordinary session of parliament.
