He reacted on on June 2, 2015 to last weekend’s decision by Fons of the North West Region annulling his suspension as NOWEFU Spokesman. Six years on, the North West Fons’ Union (NOWEFU), has declared null and void the August 27, 2008 decision by its former President General, His Majesty Chafah XI. The decision suspended Barrister Ntumfor Nico Halle ‘‘indefinitely as the North West Fons’ Messenger, Spokesman and Ambassador for attempts to destabilize and destroy the Fons’ Union through persistent, reckless and unfounded press declarations.”
Meeting at an emergency Executive Committee and General Assembly session at the Fon of Bambui’s palace on May 29, 2015, NOWEFU challenged the decision which they claimed was “irregular.” It was against this backdrop that the Fons decided to rehabilitate their Messenger, Spokesman and Ambassador, Ntumfor Nico Halle. The President General of NOWEFU, His Majesty Senator Teche Njei II, presided the session which also revised and adopted a new constitution for the Union and scheduled an Elective General Assembly for November 28, 2015.
Reacting to the decision, Barrister Nico Halle described it as ‘rubbish.’ “I can’t accept it. I will continue to respect all traditional rulers, but I can’t work any longer for the North West Fons’ Union because they rubbed me in mud. I was suspended because I insisted on transparency. The union is now in shambles,” he explained.” I don’t want to be put in a mess. NOWEFU is now a shadow of itself. Members go around selling titles…. The union is now like a political party. It has been infiltrated by some North West elite who manipulate it,” Barrister Halle concluded.
Meanwhile, it is expected that Donga Mantung Division will produce the next NOWEFU President General. The incumbent, Fon Teche Njei II, told Cameroon Tribune that the revised constitution has increased Executive Bureau positions from three to four (President General, Secretary General, Treasurer General and Financial Secretary General). Also, a list system will be used for the polls.
Dissenting voices rocked the North West Fons’ Union ahead of the General Assembly in Bambui. A May 18, 2015 correspondence from His Majesty Chafah XI, Promoter and Co- founder of NOWEFU to the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Mezam, accused the incumbent NOWEFU President General, Fon Teche Njei of refusing to convene an elective general assembly after the expiration of his mandate on March 16, 2015. He argued that the cardinal principle of rotation based on fair play and justice was in jeopardy.
