Many shop owners were shocked and angry as they complained to authorities about the looting. All efforts by residents to reduce the fire proved futile. The firefighters arrived the scene some minutes after the fire started and managed to contain the damage caused.
According to a trader, the cause of the fire has been blamed on a short circuit that occurred when power returned to the shop buildings. However, an investigation has been opened to determine the true cause of the fire by the authorities.
