A Warm Heart in a Cold Season: Winter in Germany Through the Eyes of Kisife Jude.

Winter in Germany Through the Eyes of Kisife Jude: A Warm Heart in a Cold Season

As I stepped off the plane from Cameroon Africa, the crisp air of a German winter greeted him, a stark contrast to the warm breezes of his homeland. Winter in Germany, a season of stark beauty and biting cold, was a new world to him. January and February, the coldest months, often saw temperatures plummeting below freezing. Hailing from a land of eternal warmth, found himself wrapped in layers of clothing, marvelling at the wonder of snowflakes, a rarity back home.

The Bavarian Alps, Black Forest, Sachsen Switzerland, and Harz mountains blanketed in snow, transformed into winter wonderlands, offering Kisife and other visitors exhilarating opportunities for skiing and snowboarding. These landscapes, so different from the African savannas, captivated him with their serene and pristine beauty.

But it wasn't just the natural scenery that entranced him. The German cities and towns, adorned with festive lights and decorations, hosted Christmas markets that seemed to spring from the pages of a fairy tale. Here, I explored stalls of traditional crafts, sipped on steaming Glühwein, and tasted an array of seasonal treats, immersing myself in the festive spirit.

Adapting to the short daylight hours, he learned to make the most of the daylight, exploring the wintry outdoors before the early dusk. He quickly understood the importance of a well-heated home, a cozy refuge from the chilly outside world.

This winter experience was a journey of discovery for me, from learning to dress in waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes to finding joy in the simple pleasure of a warm cup of tea after a day in the cold. His first German winter was a mix of challenge, adaptation, and marvel - a testament to the resilience and curiosity that defines the human spirit.

My story is a reminder of the beauty and diversity of our world - how a simple change in latitude can open up a universe of new experiences, and how embracing these differences enriches us. Winter in Germany, through his eyes, was not just a season but a captivating new chapter in his life's journey.

Forests at War: The Global North's Ambition vs. The Global South's Fight for Survival! Reflection on Forest Governance.

Some reflections on Forest Governance, by Kisife F Jude Forests are not just the lungs of the earth, they have become battlegrounds where the interest of the Global North clash with the survival instincts of the Global South. Let's explore more…..  Zittau Community Forest, Saxony East Germany  Forest governance is a concept that stirs up significant debate, especially when considering its application and impact in the Global North compared to the Global South.  On one hand, the principle of forest governance with its emphasis on sustainable management, conservation, and the equitable use of forest resources seems universally beneficial. It champions the idea that forests are critical not just for the environment but for the livelihoods and cultural heritage of many communities.                          Fieldwork However, the implementation and priorities of forest governance often starkly diverge between the...
