The Cameroonian government has prescribed the rapid processing of files to all stakeholders of the port of Douala platform to decongest the port of Douala, APA learned during the visit of the Minister of Transport, Robert Nkili in the economic metropolis .

The move comes after the launch of the auction goods which have spent more than three months in the port area, an operation jointly launched by the Directorate General of Customs (DGC), the Douala International Terminal (DIT) and the Port Douala (PAD).

After asking each actor 'not ensure that the services for which he is the holder of a regulatory act and give up the confusion of roles, "said Minister of Transport has insisted that' 'the fluidity perennial of the Douala port area necessarily involves an intensification and strengthening collaboration between the different stakeholders of the port under the auspices of the authorities. "

In this sense, he was asked the port community '' work in perfect synergy in a constructive dialogue "through regular consultations adopted by consensus.

Making the mid-term review of the auction launched on April 20 and which aims to identify the port area a thousand abandoned containers, the Director General of DIT Jakob Sidenius, said 200 containers long stay were normally removed by their owners or user and that about 100 containers should be removed every week.

95 percent of exports and imports pass through Cameroon's port of Douala which also focuses 80 percent of the volume of the Central African and Chadian goods.

All this explains why '' the congestion causes not only the stifling of the Cameroonian economy but also has an impact on the sub-regional economies ", corroborating sources contend.
