CAMEROON: Agreement reached between Oyongo, MLS and Montreal Impact?

CamerVibes

Cameroon international Ambroise Oyongo, acquired by the Montreal Impact via trade in January, has been reluctant to join his new club over a dispute on the legality of his transfer from the New York Red Bulls. It now seems the parties have settled their differences and he will be joining the Impact soon.
According to afriksports.com, the 23 year-old left-back has come to an agreement to end the legal dispute with the cooperation of his agent, representatives of the MLS and the Montreal Impact.
“I absolutely had to start playing. My advisors and the MLS have settled their differences and I will be going back to work next Tuesday.”
Details of the dispute resolution are not official, however its being reported that the Montreal Impact have agreed to increase the player’s monthly salary and also pay a transfer fee of over 1 billion CFA francs, which is just above 2 million dollars Canadian.
His agent Edgard Nuentsa was instrumental in getting his client to join the MLS.
Impact coach Frank Klopas had high praise for Oyongo when he discussed his acquisition:
“He’s a tremendous young talent, attack minded, a lot of pace and technical ability. He gets forward.”
Many pundits were skeptical of his acquisition, stating the Impact took a big risk acquiring him for fear he may be reluctant to join his new team and also a desire to want to play in Europe. Alas no significant offers have arrived so it seems Oyongo realized its better to play, even if not in an ideal situation, than to not play at all.
This is good news for the Impact who could use some reinforcements on defense.
