Just watch the clip below of Robert Downey Jr. and you’ll see the suppressed anger (around 3:50) when Channel 4 interviewer Krishnan Guru-Murthy starts asking about the rougher parts of his past. Drugs, addiction and things that Downey has discussed before, but maybe didn’t feel like going into when he’s just out on the press circuit to promote “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

Instead, he just became the latest celebrity in the Awkward Interview Hall of Fame. The whole thing culminated after an interview that was already pretty uncomfortable.

“The reason I’m asking about the past is that you’ve talked in other interviews again about your relationship with your father and the role of all of that in the dark periods you went through, taking drugs and drinking and all of that,” Guru-Murthy started. “And I just wondered whether you think you’re free of all of that or whether that’s still something you — ”

“I’m sorry — what are we doing?” Downey asked.

“Well, I’m just asking questions, that’s all,” Guru-Murthy starts explaining.

With that, Downey walks out: “It’s just getting a little Diane Sawyer,” he said, taking off his mic and leaving the room.

It’s still not as awkward as that Mila Kunis interview.
